01Glue system: EVA or PUR, and how PUR is handled
EVA hot melt is simple and forgiving. PUR gives a thin, water-resistant glue line for kitchens and bathrooms, but it cures with moisture in the air. A PUR machine needs a sealed or closed melter, a cleaning routine and a purge procedure. The word PUR in a listing title does not tell you which melter you get.
02Pre-milling unit
Two cutters take a thin layer off the panel edge just before the glue pot, removing saw chips. Without them, joint quality depends on your panel saw. Ask for cutter diameter, tipping and motor rating.
03Feed track and top pressure beam
The panel must travel without moving sideways or lifting. Ask for track type, pad material and beam construction. A weak track shows as a wandering joint line on long panels.
04End trimming and corner rounding
Corner rounding trims the band flush on all four corners, so a door leaves the machine finished. Check it runs at the full listed feed speed.
05Motor, spindle and linear guide brands
High-frequency trimming motors decide the finish on the band edge. Ask for brand and frequency of each motor, and the linear guide brand.
06Controller and presets
Stored settings for band thickness let an operator switch between thin and thick band without resetting each unit by hand. Manual units cost less and change more slowly.
07Dust extraction and air supply
Every cutting unit needs an extraction port and a stated airflow, and the machine needs clean, dry compressed air. Extraction and compressor are outside the price.
