A fabric inspection machine only helps if it runs your fabric without stretching it: a knit pulled taut on the frame shows fewer faults and measures longer than it is, so the roll you pass is not the roll you cut.

Knits need a driven, tension-free feed and often open-width or tubular handling. A woven-only frame pulls knits out of shape.
Ask how length is measured, by roller or encoder, and whether the machine weighs and labels each roll.
Backlight and top light at a tilted board show different faults. Ask the light type and whether the board angle adjusts.
Manual marking, a keypad that records points per roll, or camera detection at a much higher price. Match it to how your buyers grade fabric.
