Sublimation printer from China

A wide sublimation printer only prints paper, and the colour appears on fabric in a separate roll heat press, so a buyer comparing head counts and prices can miss that the calender, the paper and a polyester-only product range decide whether the line makes money.

What you are actually comparing.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price
01

Head count and what it buys

At the same 1.9 m width, listings ran from 8 to 30 heads. More heads print faster, cost more to replace and need a stronger ink supply. Size the head count to your metres per day.

02

The calender outside the quote

Paper transfer to roll fabric needs a rotary calender heat press of matching width. It is a separate machine with its own price, power and floor space. Get it quoted at the same time.

03

Paper weight and drying

Light paper saves money and can cockle under heavy ink. Ask which paper weights the printer is profiled for and whether a drying heater sits behind the platen.

04

Fabric range

Sublimation dyes bond with polyester and polymer coatings. Cotton does not take them. Check your products before choosing the process.

05

RIP and colour profiles

Sportswear buyers expect repeatable team colours. Ask which RIP ships, whether it is licensed, and whether profiles are made for your paper, ink and fabric together.

02

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

03

Turn the claim into a demonstration.

Require thisA pass looks like
Print your team kit design on your paper, transfer it on a calender to your polyester, and measure a spot colour. The spot colour matches your reference within the tolerance you agreed, on first and last metre.
Print one hour at full width in your production mode.Measured metres match the offer for that mode, with no banding between head rows.
Stretch and wash the printed fabric. No white show-through when stretched, no colour loss after washing, photos kept.

04

The documents that must arrive with it.

The one people forget. The colour profiles from the sample run. Without them your first production batch will not match the approved sample, and the supplier will blame your paper.

01

Most of your garments are cotton.

A DTG printer or DTF transfers; sublimation dyes do not bond with cotton.

02

You decorate a few mugs and shirts a day.

A desktop sublimation printer and a flat heat press, not a wide roll machine.

06

Where the numbers come from.

We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.

Every machine we source in this area is on the Printing & signage page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.

Straight answers

Questions buyers ask about this machine.

Chinese vs European sublimation printer: what differs?+

Many wide sublimation printers sold in Europe share Chinese frames. The European price buys profiles, paper and ink trials and head service.

What goes on a sublimation printer inspection checklist?+

Head count and serials, a full-width print in production mode, a spot colour after calendering, the RIP licence and the heater at the platen.

What does EU compliance involve?+

Low voltage, EMC and machinery law for the printer; the calender has its own declaration. Keep ink safety data sheets on file.

Who is the EU importer?+

The business placing the printer on the EU market, which is you when buying direct from China.
