Eco solvent printer from China

An eco solvent printer is cheap to buy and easy to run badly: the ink still gives off solvent vapour, the print must dry before lamination, and the heaters, take-up roller and head choice decide whether banners and vinyl come off the machine sellable.

01

What you are actually comparing.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price
01

Print width against media width

Machines are named by nominal width, often 1.6, 1.8 or 3.2 m. Printable width is a little less. Match it to the rolls you buy, and check the 3.2 m frame fits your room with space to load a roll.

02

Heaters and drying

Pre, print and post heaters let ink key into vinyl and dry. A drying fan or heater after the platen matters for fast work. Ask each heater's power and whether they are separately controlled.

03

Head choice

Listings offer XP600, I3200, I1600 or Dx5 heads, one or two. They differ in speed, price and stock. Ask the exact head and the price of a spare, and whether the machine accepts another head later.

04

Take-up and media feed

An automatic take-up roller keeps long unattended runs straight. Ask whether it is standard, and how the pinch rollers are adjusted for thin film and thick banner.

05

Ink supply in Europe

Some listings target stock held in other markets. Ask whether the ink is sold in Europe with a safety data sheet in your language, or only shipped from China.

02

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

03

Turn the claim into a demonstration.

Print a full-width job on your vinyl at your selling mode, then leave it rolled for the stated drying time.No ink transfer to the back of the next layer, and no banding across the width.
Print one hour unattended with the take-up roller. The roll winds straight with no skew or head strike, measured at the end.
Nozzle check before and after a weekend idle.Complete nozzle check after one standard clean, on video.

04

The documents that must arrive with it.

The one people forget. The ink safety data sheet. Eco solvent ink still carries solvents, and your workplace risk assessment for vapour and ventilation depends on that sheet.

Named, not hedged
01

The printer will run in an office or shop with people beside it all day.

A latex or UV roll printer, covered on the large format printer page, which gives off less vapour.

02

You print rigid boards more than rolls.

A UV flatbed printer, which prints the board directly.

06

Where the numbers come from.

We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.

Straight answers

Questions buyers ask about this machine.

Chinese vs European eco solvent printer: is the difference worth paying?+

The European price buys tested media profiles, ink supply and head service. Buy direct only if you can profile media and change a head yourself.

What goes on an eco solvent printer inspection checklist?+

Head model and serial, heater temperatures at each zone, take-up roller running, a full-width print with no banding, and ink labels matching the safety data sheet.

Eco solvent printer EU compliance: what applies?+

Low voltage, EMC and machinery law for the printer, and REACH safety data sheets for the ink. Ventilation is your workplace duty.

Who is the EU importer?+

The business that places the printer on the EU market; if you buy direct, that is you.
