What hides inside the price

Solid HTV or liquid LSR

Solid silicone is cut, loaded and pressed. Liquid silicone is pumped and injected. Five of thirty listings were LSR machines.

Dosing unit

LSR needs a two-component pump, a mixer and colour dosing. Ask whether the dosing unit is in the price and who makes it.

Cold runner and hot mould

LSR must stay cool until it reaches the hot cavity. Ask about cold runner and needle valve control.

Vertical or horizontal

Vertical machines suit inserts and overmoulding. Horizontal machines suit automatic part removal.

Deflashing and demoulding

Pressed silicone often needs trimming. Ask whether brushes, robots or manual work are assumed.

EU Declaration of Conformity under 2006/42/EC, or Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 from 20 January 2027.
Standards list: EN ISO 20430 for injection types, EN 289 for presses.
Separate manual and spare parts list for the dosing unit.

The one people forget. The dosing unit's own manual. If another maker built it, the press manual will not cover it.
