Plastic thermoforming machine from China

A roll-fed thermoformer is sold on cycles per minute, but your hourly count of cups or trays depends on how many cavities fit its forming area and whether it cuts and stacks them without an operator.

01

What you are actually comparing.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price
01

Forming area and depth

The area fixes how many cavities of your part fit per cycle; the depth fixes how tall a cup it can draw. Hourly output is cavities times cycles per minute times sixty. Ask for both numbers for your part.

02

Vacuum only or pressure forming

Pressure forming pushes the hot sheet into the mold with compressed air as well as vacuum. It gives sharper detail and more even walls on PP and deeper parts.

03

Stations: form, cut, stack

A form-only machine hands you a web of parts to punch elsewhere. Form and cut in one station keeps cut and form aligned. Separate cut and stack stations add speed and cost.

04

Platen drive

Servo-driven platens repeat more closely than pneumatic ones at high cycle rates. Ask how the forming, cutting and stacking platens are each driven.

05

Tooling

The mold and cutting tool are made for one part. Ask for the tool material, its cooling, and what each new part will cost in tooling and time.

02

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

03

Turn the claim into a demonstration.

Require thisA pass looks like
Run your sheet in your tool for a counted period at the offered cycle rate.Parts per hour match the offer after rejects are removed.
Measure wall thickness at the rim, side wall and base of sample parts. No point thinner than your drawing's minimum.
Check cut edges and stack counts on a batch. No hanging tabs or hairs at the cut, and stack counts correct on every stack checked.

04

The documents that must arrive with it.

The one people forget. Tool drawings. Ownership of the tool and its drawings should be written into the contract, or a second set can only come from the first supplier.

05

When this is the wrong machine.

Buy something else if

Named, not hedged
01

Your parts are large and thick, such as equipment covers, signs or bath trays, in small batches.

A vacuum forming machine that heats cut sheets one at a time.

02

The part needs wall thickness or detail that thin sheet cannot give, such as threads or ribs.

An injection molding machine and mold.

06

Where the numbers come from.

We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.

Every machine we source in this area is on the Plastics & molding page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.

Straight answers

Questions buyers ask about this machine.

What is the best plastic thermoforming machine from China?+

The one whose forming area fits enough cavities of your part, with pressure forming if your material or depth needs it, and cutting and stacking your labor budget requires.

Chinese vs European plastic thermoforming machine: which should I choose?+

For standard cups, lids and trays, Chinese machines are widely used. For thin PET at high cycle rates, compare servo drives and tool quality closely and quote a used European machine too.

What goes on a thermoforming machine factory audit?+

Whether tools are made in-house, how heater zones are controlled, how platens are driven, and whether each machine runs a real tool before shipment.

What EU compliance applies to a thermoforming machine making food packaging?+

The machine needs its Declaration of Conformity. The packaging you make is food contact material under Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 and, for plastics, Regulation (EU) 10/2011. That is your product's obligation, not the machine's.
