The BG number tells you kilograms a batch, but whether that batch coats evenly without twinning, picking or colour drift depends on air volume, exhaust, spray guns and your tablet shape, none of which the number shows.

Ask for air volume, heater power and exhaust fan rating. A small heater on a large drum makes a slow, wet coat.
Count the guns, ask for the pump type and whether spray rate per gun is set and logged.
A drum under-filled tumbles badly. Ask the smallest batch that still coats evenly.
Organic solvent coating needs an explosion-protected machine and room under ATEX (2014/34/EU). Aqueous-only units are cheaper and cannot be converted later.
Ask whether the drum washes in place and where the dirty water drains.

A Declaration of Conformity under 2006/42/EC, or Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 from 20 January 2027, plus ATEX papers for solvent work.
EU GMP (EudraLex Volume 4) for licensed medicines manufacturers. Coated supplement tablets follow Directive 2002/46/EC and Regulation (EC) 1935/2004.
