01Which machine the word covers
Rotary premade, linear premade, or horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) from roll film. Make the factory write the type into the quotation. HFFS makes the pouch itself, so you stop buying converted pouches but take on a forming section to maintain.
02Bottom gusset forming
On a reel-fed machine the W-shaped base is folded and sealed on the machine. Ask how that seal is checked. The base corner is where a standing pouch leaks first.
03Will the filled pouch stand
Fill level, headspace and settling decide it. Ask whether a settling or tapping step sits between filler and top seal.
04Closure stations
Zip, spout, tear notch or degassing valve each add a station. A zip must be opened before filling and the top jaw must cross it cleanly.
05The doser on top
Auger, multihead weigher or piston pump. Low listings often show the frame alone. Ask for the doser model and whether it ran on this frame at the factory.
