Laser cleaning machine from China

Two laser cleaners with the same wattage can be different machines: a continuous-wave unit strips rust fast and heats the part, a pulsed unit cleans gently and costs far more per watt, and listings often blur the two.

What hides inside the price

Pulsed or continuous wave

Continuous-wave sources are cheap per watt and strip heavy rust fast, but heat and can roughen the surface. Pulsed sources suit moulds, thin sheet and weld prep where the base must stay intact. Get the type and source maker in writing.

Source maker and pulse figures

For pulsed units ask pulse energy and pulse width, not only average power. Two units at the same average power clean differently.

Air or water cooling

Low-power units can be air-cooled and carried. Higher power needs a water chiller and a cart.

Cleaning head and scan width

The scan head sets the width cleaned per pass. Ask the head maker and how the protective window is changed and stocked.

Fume extraction

Removed paint and coatings become fume and dust. Extraction is usually a separate item, and fume from lead paint or zinc is your workplace duty.

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

What you remove, from what: rust, paint, oil, oxide or weld discolouration, on which base metal and thickness.
Whether the surface after cleaning must stay unchanged, as on moulds or visible parts.
The area per shift, which sets power more than any brochure speed.
Handheld use on site, or a fixed station or robot, which decides cooling and weight.
Where it runs: a closed room with a laser controlled area, or open workshop space.

Clean your own sample parts with your real soil, filmed, at the settings the factory will ship.	The soil is removed to the agreed standard and the base shows no melting, colour change or roughening beyond what the contract allows.
Clean a measured area and time it.	The area per hour on your soil matches the contract figure, not a brochure rate on light rust.
Photograph the source nameplate and read its settings screen.	Source maker, type (pulsed or continuous) and power match the contract.

The documents that must arrive with it.

EU Declaration of Conformity for this serial number naming 2006/42/EC, or Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 for delivery from 20 January 2027, plus 2014/35/EU and 2014/30/EU.
The laser class under EN 60825-1, which for these units is normally Class 4, and the standard applied for hand-held laser processing devices, EN ISO 11553-2.
Manual in the language of use, with the eyewear specification by wavelength and optical density.

The one people forget. The eyewear specification. Class 4 radiation reflects off shiny metal, and without the wavelength and optical density in writing you cannot buy correct goggles for people nearby.

Named, not hedged

You clean large steel areas to a blast profile before painting, and the surface finish does not matter.

A shot blasting machine. It treats large steel areas at lower running cost and leaves the profile paint systems ask for.

You clean oil and chips off batches of small parts.

An ultrasonic or spray parts washer, which cleans every face of a basket of parts at once.
