Handling or process gantry
Many listings called gantry robot are welding, painting or panel cleaning machines. A handling gantry for loading, stacking or box moving is a different build; confirm which one is quoted.

A gantry robot is built to your stroke lengths and load, so the hard part is that its stiffness, accuracy and speed depend on beam size and drive choices you cannot see on a quote, and a gantry that sags or shakes at full stroke misses every pick.

Two axes for machine loading, three or more for picking and stacking. Ask for payload at full stroke with the gripper, and the beam deflection at that load.
Belt, ball screw or rack and pinion, with servo motors. Belts are fast on long strokes, ball screws accurate on short ones. Ask per axis.
A robot controller or a PLC with motion cards. Ask how positions are taught and how it talks to the machine it serves.
02
Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.
03
A SCARA or delta pick-and-place robot, faster and smaller for the same job.
A six-axis articulated robot, since a basic gantry moves in straight lines and turns only on an added axis.
04
We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.
05
Every machine we source in this area is on the Material handling page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.
Straight answers
Beam sections, linear guides, drives and the controller. Compare deflection and accuracy at your load, not the headline stroke.
Repeat picks at full stroke and load with positions measured, beam deflection, guards and interlocks, and the emergency stop on every axis.
Ask whether the supplier treats it as an industrial robot under EN ISO 10218, and for the risk assessment and declaration covering the cell.
The company placing the gantry on the EU market. It checks the declaration and adds its name and address.
