Ultrasonic plastic welder from China

An ultrasonic weld is made by the horn, the fixture and your joint design, and a quote for a 20 kHz welder says nothing about whether those give a strong, sealed joint.

Frequency and power

The 15 kHz listings stated 2,600 to 4,200 W for larger parts; the 35 kHz ones 900 to 1,200 W for small, precise parts. Match frequency to part size first.

Horn and fixture

The horn is tuned to the generator and shaped for your part. Ask whether a horn and fixture are in the price, and the cost of the next set.

Pneumatic or servo press

Servo presses control horn position and speed, and were listed at several times the price of pneumatic bench units.

Weld modes and records

Ask whether it welds by time, energy or collapse distance, and stores each weld's data.

Generator

Ask about frequency tracking and whether the generator is sold alone as a spare.
