Bar soap is made by pressing, not by stirring: the plodder must compact soap into a dense bar with no trapped air and the stamping die decides the finish, yet the same name also sells liquid soap mixers that press nothing.

What hides inside the price

Starting material

A line that starts from soap noodles needs a mixer, a roll mill, a plodder, a cutter and a stamper. A line that starts from oils and caustic soda adds saponification and drying, which is a chemical plant. Ask which one is quoted.

Plodder: single, duplex, vacuum

A vacuum duplex plodder refines the soap, pulls out air, then compacts it. Without vacuum, bars can hold air pockets and crack. Ask for the worm diameter, the vacuum rating and the worm material.

Roll mill

Rolls grind soap smooth and spread colour and fragrance. Ask for roll material, hardness and how gaps are set.

Stamping dies

The die gives the bar its shape and logo. Ask for die material, whether the die is cooled, and the cost and lead time of a second shape.

What the capacity figure rests on

Listings state kilograms per hour. Ask on which soap base and at what moisture, because a softer base extrudes faster and stamps worse.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

Your starting point: noodles you buy, or oils and caustic soda.
Bar weight, shape and logo, with a drawing or a sample bar.
Kilograms per hour or bars per minute, and shifts per day.
Toilet, laundry, transparent or hotel soap: each extrudes and stamps differently.
Wrapping: bare bars, flow wrap, pleat wrap or cartons.

Run your own noodles through plodder and stamper for a counted batch.	Cut bars show no air holes or layering, and bar weights stay inside your tolerance.
Leave stamped bars for a day, then drop a sample from bench height onto a hard floor.	No cracks along the stamping line and the logo stays sharp on every bar dropped.
Count bars per minute at the stamper over a timed period.	The measured rate is at or above the rate written into the offer, on your soap, not a demonstration base.

EU Declaration of Conformity with model and serial number, under 2006/42/EC until 19 January 2027, then Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.
Low voltage 2014/35/EU and EMC 2014/30/EU references for motors, heaters and controls.
Drawings of worms, rolls and dies with material and hardness.

The one people forget. The stamping die drawing with its tolerances. You will want a second die, and without the drawing a toolmaker cannot copy the first.

You make small batches of handmade cold process soap.
