Wood CNC router from China

Two wood CNC routers with the same 1325 table can differ by several times in price because of what is bolted to the gantry, and the buyer who compares table sizes ends up comparing the one part that is almost the same.

What you are actually comparing.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price
01

Tool change

A single spindle needs a manual tool change. A multi-spindle head switches between two or three tools. An automatic tool changer holds a rack or carousel. Nesting kitchens needs automatic changes.

02

Spindle cooling and power

Air-cooled spindles need no water circuit; water-cooled ones run quieter and cooler. Ask power and the spindle maker.

03

Drives: steppers or servos

Servo drives hold position under load and report errors. Stepper drives are cheaper and lose steps silently.

04

Vacuum table and pump

Nesting holds a full board on vacuum. Ask pump size, table zones, and whether a spoil board is supplied.

05

Controller and software

Ask which controller, which file formats it reads, and whether nesting software is included or quoted apart.

02

Decode the model code.

Router model numbers such as 1325, 1530 and 2030 give the working area in hundreds of millimetres, width first. The small numbers in 6090 or 9015 give the area in tens.

  • 1325: 1,300 x 2,500 mm. A 1,220 x 2,440 mm board leaves 1,300 - 1,220 = 80 mm and 2,500 - 2,440 = 60 mm.
  • 2030: 2,000 x 3,000 mm, for boards larger than the common size.

03

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

04

Turn the claim into a demonstration.

Require thisA pass looks like
Nest a full board of your parts with every tool change your jobs need.Every part within tolerance on size and hole position, no part moves on the vacuum, and no lost steps.
Cut small parts at the end of a nest.Small parts stay put until the last cut.
Run your file from your software through the machine's post-processor.The file runs unedited and the parts match the drawing.

05

The documents that must arrive with it.

The one people forget. The post-processor. Without one written for your design software and controller, files need hand editing, and the router runs below its promised output.

06

When this is the wrong machine.

Buy something else if

Named, not hedged
01

You mainly cut straight parts in volume from standard boards.

A beam saw, which cuts stacks at a time and leaves drilling to other machines.

02

You need holes in panel edges as well as faces.

A six-sided drilling machine after the saw, since a three-axis router drills only the top face.

07

Where the numbers come from.

We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.

Every machine we source in this area is on the Woodworking page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.
