Wood boring machine from China

A multi-row boring machine is simple and cheap; the risk is rows and pitch that do not match your hole system, because fixed spindles cannot be moved once built.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price

Number of rows

Each row drills one line of holes per stroke. More rows mean fewer passes on a carcass side.

Spindle pitch and count per row

The 32 mm system sets hole spacing for shelf pins and connectors. Ask the pitch and spindle count per row; together they set the longest line drilled in one stroke.

Horizontal drilling

Some rows swing to horizontal to drill panel edges for dowels. Ask which rows turn and whether it is quick to do.

Row positioning

Rows usually move by handwheel and scale. Ask for the scale type and how rows lock.

Fences, stops and clamps

Hole position is referenced from fences and flip stops. Ask for fence length, stop count and pneumatic clamps.

Decode the model code.

In two listings, MZ7321 followed by a digit matched the row count: the MZ73212 had two rows of 21 spindles and the MZ73213 three rows. Treat that as a habit, not a rule, and confirm rows on the drawing.

21 spindles at 32 mm pitch: (21 - 1) x 32 = 640 mm between the outer holes of one row.
2 rows x 21 spindles = 42 spindles, which is why some listings sell a two-row machine as 42 heads.

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

Your hole system: pitch, hole diameters and depths.
The longest hole line you drill in one piece, such as a wardrobe side.
How many lines each part carries, which sets the rows.
Whether you drill edges for dowels on the same machine.
Panel thickness range, and whether you need pneumatic clamps.

Drill a full carcass side with every row you ordered, then drill the matching side.	Shelf pins sit level across both sides, every hole within tolerance.
Swing one row to horizontal and drill panel edges.	Edge holes are centred in the thickness and line up with the face holes of the mating part.
Reset one row to a new position by the scale, then drill.	The hole lands where the scale says without a trial hole.

EU Declaration of Conformity naming 2006/42/EC, or Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 from 20 January 2027, plus 2014/35/EU and 2014/30/EU.
Instructions in the language of use with guarding, noise data and the extraction connection.
The row drawing with spindle count, pitch and rotation direction for each spindle.

The one people forget. The spindle rotation list. Neighbouring spindles often turn in opposite directions, so left-hand and right-hand drills must go in the right chucks, and without the list a new operator breaks drills on day one.

Parts carry holes on several faces and edges, and you drill many panels a shift.

A six-sided drilling machine, which drills every face without turning the panel over.

You mainly drill panel edges for dowels, glue them and insert the dowel.

A dowel drilling and inserting machine, which drills, glues and drives the dowel in one cycle.
