Padding or volume reduction

A padding shredder cuts boxes into a flexible mat or strips for void fill. A recycling shredder cuts cardboard into pieces for a baler.

Cutter type

Padding machines use slotted rollers; recycling units use shafts with hooked blades or a single rotor and screen. Ask for a photo of the cutting parts.

Feed width and thickness

Ask the widest box and the thickest board, including double or triple wall, that feeds without folding.

Tape, staples and plastic

Ask what the cutters tolerate: tape, staples, film.

Before you ask for a price.
