Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price

Extruder for the polymer

Rigid PVC dry blend usually runs on a conical twin screw. PE and PPR run on a single screw. Ask which extruder is in the quote and for which polymer.

Diameter band and tooling

Each diameter needs its own die parts and calibration sleeve. Ask which sizes are included and the price of each additional size.

Vacuum tank, cooling and haul-off

Thick-walled PE pipe needs long cooling so it stays round. Ask for vacuum tank and spray tank lengths, and how many caterpillar tracks the haul-off has.

Wall control and cutting

Ask whether an ultrasonic wall gauge is fitted, and whether the cutter is a saw or a chipless cutter.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

Every diameter and wall or pressure class you will make.
Output in kilograms per hour or meters per minute.
Pipe standard your customers require.
Hall length, cooling water and power.

EU Declaration of Conformity for the line under 2006/42/EC, or Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 from 20 January 2027.
Standards list, including the EN 1114 series for extrusion equipment.
Die and calibration sleeve drawings for each size.

The one people forget. Sleeve drawings, needed to add sizes later without the original supplier.

Budget for testing equipment and certification first; the line alone does not certify pipe.

Does EU compliance for a pipe line cover the pipe?+

No. The line needs its Declaration of Conformity; the pipe is assessed against its own product standard, such as EN 12201 for PE water pipe or EN ISO 1452 for PVC-U.
