Pet biscuit machine from China

Pet biscuit machine can mean a forming head alone or a full line with a tunnel oven, and the oven is where most of the cost, power and floor space sit.

01

What you are actually comparing.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price
01

Former only, or former plus oven

A tray rotary moulder we read came without any oven. Full lines we read ran 21 to 60 metres. Ask for the itemised scope from dough mixer to cooling conveyor.

02

Rotary moulder or rotary cutter

A moulder presses a soft, short dough into engraved rolls. A cutter stamps shapes from a sheeted, harder dough. One listing uses the cutter for hard biscuits and the moulder for soft ones. Your dough decides.

03

Oven heating and zones

Electric, gas and diesel are all offered. Ask for the number of independently controlled zones and the temperature spread across the belt width.

04

Roll engraving

Every biscuit shape and logo is engraved into a roll. Ask what material the roll is, who engraves new designs and how long that takes.

05

Tray or tunnel

Small moulders drop biscuits onto trays for a rack oven; lines drop onto a continuous oven belt. Trays suit test batches, a tunnel suits volume.

02

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

03

Turn the claim into a demonstration.

Require thisA pass looks like
Your dough, mixed to your recipe, formed and baked on the quoted line for one hour.Finished biscuits weighed over the hour at or above the contracted rate, with broken pieces counted separately.
Thirty biscuits from the left, centre and right of the oven belt, checked for colour and moisture. All thirty inside your moisture limit, and no visible colour band across the belt.
A roll changed to a second shape. The second shape released cleanly from the roll with no sticking, within the stated changeover time.

04

The documents that must arrive with it.

The one people forget. Burner papers for a fuel-fired oven. Your gas installer and insurer will ask for them, and a burner without them may not be connected.

05

When this is the wrong machine.

Buy something else if

Named, not hedged
01

Your treat is a chewy stick or a crunchy dental shape pushed through a die.

A dog treat making machine using extrusion.

02

You bake fewer than a few hundred kilograms a week while testing products.

A tray moulder with a rack oven you may already own, or a contract bakery, before a tunnel line.

06

Where the numbers come from.

We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.

07

Related machines.

Every machine we source in this area is on the Pet food page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.

Chinese vs European pet biscuit machine: where does the money go?+

Oven build, insulation and burner controls. The former is simple; oven quality decides colour and moisture across the belt and your fuel bill.

What is on a pet biscuit machine factory audit?+

Whether the factory builds its own ovens, engraves its own rolls and has a test line with a working oven to run your dough.

Which EU rules apply to baking pet biscuits?+

The machine falls under machinery and electrical rules. Your business falls under feed hygiene, Regulation (EC) 183/2005, and if you use ingredients of animal origin, Regulation (EC) 1069/2009 as well.

Who is the importer of a biscuit line bought direct?+

Normally you. The importer is named on the machine or papers and checks the conformity documents before first use.
