Bottom web width and advance
Film width and the length pulled forward each cycle set the die area, and so how many cavities fit per cycle. That is the real output figure.
No DramaBuyer guide · Packaging
A thermoformer is sold by its frame, but your pack is decided by the die set, and many quotes price one die for one pack while you will need several.

Film width and the length pulled forward each cycle set the die area, and so how many cavities fit per cycle. That is the real output figure.
Every pack shape needs a forming die, a sealing die and cutting tools. Ask how many sets are in the price, the cost of one more, and the die change time.
Deep packs need thicker bottom film and more heat. Ask the maximum depth on your film, not on the thickest film the machine takes.
One frame can run all three, but each changes the pump, the gas mixer and the sealing station. Get the pump brand and capacity in writing.
Straight knives cost less than a contour punch. A printed top film needs a registration sensor so the print sits on each pack.
02
The number in a thermoformer code often tracks bottom web width, but not reliably: it matched in one manufacturer table and not in another listing. Ask for the web width in writing.
03
Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

| Require this | A pass looks like |
|---|---|
| Run your product, film and die for a counted run agreed in advance, filmed without cuts. | Stated cycles held for the whole run, rejects under the count agreed in writing. |
| Leak-test a sample and measure residual oxygen if you flush gas. | No leaking packs, and oxygen at or below the figure your food safety plan sets. |
| Time a change from one die set to another. | Finished inside the quoted time, and the first packs after it seal correctly. |

A tray sealing machine: a tool change is a much smaller part.
A chamber vacuum packing machine: no forming film, no dies, far less floor.
07
We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.
08
Every machine we source in this area is on the Packaging page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.
Straight answers
The one whose die layout gives your packs per minute at a cycle speed it holds on your film. Work out cavities per cycle first, then compare frames.
Same process. The differences are pump, servo drives, die quality and service reach. A used European frame with local die makers can be the better buy.
The counted run, leak and oxygen tests and a timed die change. Then count every contracted die in the crate and check the pump brand against the quote.
Buying direct normally makes you the importer: your name goes on the machine or its papers, and you check the Declaration of Conformity names this serial number.
