Multihead weigher from China

A multihead weigher is only as good as its feed on your product: a demo with dry nuts proves nothing about sticky, fragile or long pieces, where the pans, hoppers and feed are what fail.

What hides inside the price

Head count

More heads give the computer more combinations to choose from, so better accuracy at higher speed. In one maker's listings the 14-head was rated almost twice the speed of the 10-head.

Hopper volume

Small hoppers suit small doses; large ones suit bulky snacks. Too large a hopper for a small dose costs accuracy.

Feed for your product

Vibration suits free-flowing pieces. Sticky meat and cheese need screw or belt feed; fragile products need low drops and soft surfaces.

Contact surfaces and washdown

Dimpled or coated pans for sticky product, and the protection rating for wet cleaning.

Decode the model code.

Codes often carry the head count: one maker's JW-A14 is its fourteen-head model.

Possible hopper combinations are 2 to the power of heads, minus one: 10 heads give 1,023, 14 heads give 16,383.
