Flow wrapping machine from China

A flow wrapper rarely fails at the seal jaw; it fails at the infeed, where products arriving unevenly spaced get caught in the end seal, so the quoted speed means nothing until your product has been fed at that pitch.

What hides inside the price

Infeed and product spacing

Hand-fed chain, automatic feed from a conveyor, or an aligning system for chocolate and biscuits. Ask at what pitch the stated speed was reached.

Film width and pack size

The film wraps round the product and joins in a fin seal, so the widest flat pack is a little under half the film width. Product height eats into that width too.

Rotary or box-motion end seal

Rotary jaws are fast and suit flat products. Box-motion jaws stay with the pack longer, giving more dwell for thick film and taller products, at lower speed.

Film from above or below

Up-paper machines feed film from above, down-paper from below, which is often chosen for soft or loose products such as bread. Ask which you are being quoted.

Servo drives and gas flush

Separate servos for film, jaws and infeed let you change pack length on the screen. Ask how many servos, and whether gas flush is fitted.

Decode the model code.

In both series checked, the number in the model code was the maximum film width in millimetres: a 250 takes film up to 250 mm, a 450 up to 450 mm.

In one series, the 250 model listed a maximum pack width of 110 mm: 110 x 2 = 220, leaving 30 mm for the fin seal.
Top listed speed fell from 230 a minute at 250 mm film to 150 at 700 mm: wider film means a slower machine.

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

Product length, width and height, and how much they vary.
How products arrive: by hand, conveyor or upstream line.
Film type and thickness, cold-seal or heat-seal.
Packs per minute needed on your largest product.
Gas flush, date coding and label position.

Feed a counted batch of your product at target speed with your film, arriving as it will in production.	Products caught in the end seal stay under the number written in the contract.
Leak test a sample of sealed packs, fin seal and both end seals.	No leaks, and for gas-flushed packs, residual oxygen at or under your stated target.
Change pack length on the screen between two products, timed.	The change is done within the quoted time with no mechanical parts swapped.

EU Declaration of Conformity naming 2006/42/EC, or Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 for delivery from 20 January 2027.
Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 declaration for the infeed chain and forming box where they touch food.
Manual, wiring diagram and the servo parameter backup.

The one people forget. The film specification used in acceptance. Change film later and seal temperatures and speed can shift.

Buy something else if

Named, not hedged

Your product is loose, poured or weighed, such as nuts or pasta.

A VFFS packaging machine with a weigher, which forms the bag around a falling dose.

Your product needs a printed rigid box for retail.

A cartoning machine, with the flow wrapper only if an inner wrap is needed.
