What hides inside the price

AC or MFDC

An AC welder is simple and loads one phase of your supply heavily. A medium frequency inverter balances the load and welds coated steel and aluminium more evenly.

Power and duty cycle

Rated power means little without the duty cycle. Ask the current available at your stack-up and how many welds per minute it sustains.

Force and arms

Pneumatic or servo electrode force, arm length and throat depth. Longer arms reduce force and current at the tip.

Controller and cooling

Weld schedules, current monitoring, and water cooling for transformer and electrodes. Ask whether a chiller is included.

Nugget size or strength required.
Part size, which decides arm length and throat.
Welds per hour and number of heads or fixtures.
