Industrial centrifuge from China

Separation depends on g force and on your feed, yet two sellers can publish different speeds, g figures and flow rates for the same model code, and the flow is usually measured on water.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price

Centrifuge type

Decanters discharge solids continuously with a screw. Disc stacks clarify liquids and split oil from water. Tubular bowls reach very high g for fine solids but are emptied by hand. Basket units filter crystals.

Bowl radius and speed

g force rises with radius and with speed squared. Ask for both, and the maximum speed at your feed density.

Rated flow and its test liquid

Flow figures are often water. Ask for flow at your solids content and target clarity.

Bowl material and balancing

Stainless grade of bowl and wetted parts, and a dynamic balancing report. An unbalanced bowl wears bearings fast.

Guarding and solvent service

Lid interlock, overspeed protection and vibration trip. For flammable solvents, an ATEX build or inert gas blanketing is a separate price.

Decode the model code.

In the GQ tubular series the number usually gives bowl inner diameter in millimetres. It is not a rule: one table lists the GQ150 with a 142 mm bowl. Read the table, then check the g figure against speed.

GQ105: radius 5.25 cm. At 19,000 rpm: 0.00001118 x 5.25 x 19,000 x 19,000 = about 21,200 g.

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

Feed composition: solids percent, particle size, densities of each phase and viscosity.
Two-phase or three-phase split, and which phase is the product.
Flow per hour on your feed, and continuous or batch operation.
Required clarity of the liquid and dryness of the solids.
Whether the feed contains a flammable solvent, and whether it touches food or medicine.

Require this	A pass looks like
Run your own feed at the quoted flow and speed, sampling liquid and solids outlets.	Solids in the clarified liquid and moisture in the cake both inside the values written into the order.
Measure vibration at full speed with the bowl loaded.	Vibration below the limit in the manual, with the balancing report matching the bowl serial number.
Try to start with the lid open, and trigger the overspeed trip, under factory supervision.	The machine refuses to start with the lid open and trips on overspeed.

The documents that must arrive with it.

EU Declaration of Conformity for the serial number: 2006/42/EC until 19 January 2027, then Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, plus 2014/35/EU and 2014/30/EU. Ask which harmonised standard for centrifuges was applied.
Material certificates for the bowl and wetted parts, and ATEX 2014/34/EU marking where solvent is present.
Manual with maximum speed against feed density and the bowl inspection interval.

The one people forget. The dynamic balancing report tied to the bowl serial number. Insurers and service engineers ask for it after the first bearing failure.

Buy something else if

Named, not hedged

You need to remove a solvent from a dissolved product, not solids from a liquid.

A rotary evaporator, which separates by boiling under vacuum.

You spin samples in tubes for testing, not a process stream.

A benchtop laboratory centrifuge, which is a far smaller and simpler purchase.
