What hides inside the price

Cutting principle

Bowl trimmers spin leaves against a blade under a grid. Tumble trimmers turn flower in a mesh drum over a cutting reel. Bladeless tumblers rub leaf off by friction. Each treats trichomes differently, so ask which one is offered.

Wet or dry rating

A capacity figure without the word wet or dry means little. Ask for both, measured on flower of a stated moisture.

Drum mesh and reel

Drum opening size decides which buds fall through and which get cut. Ask how many mesh drums are included, the reel blade count and the gap between blade and mesh.

Blade material and sharpening

Resin dulls and gums blades. Ask the blade steel, the sharpening interval, and the price and delivery time of a spare reel.

Cleaning access

Drums and reels are cleaned with alcohol after every session. Tool-free removal saves labour each day.

EU Declaration of Conformity with serial number under 2006/42/EC until 19 January 2027, then Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, with 2014/35/EU and 2014/30/EU.
Material statement for drum, reel and contact surfaces.
Manual with guarding, blade handling and cleaning in your language.

The one people forget. The reel drawing with blade gap and part number. Without it a replacement reel can only come from the original factory.

Is a trimming machine for hemp covered by special EU rules?+

The machinery rules apply whatever the crop. EU hemp must be a Common Catalogue variety, with a 0.3 percent THC limit under Regulation (EU) 2021/2115. Whether you may run this machine, and on what material, depends on the licence your business holds where the machine will be used.
