CNC press brake from China

Two CNC press brakes with the same tonnage, bed and controller name can differ threefold in price, and the difference sits in axes, crowning and guarding, which the headline never lists.

What you are actually comparing.

Two quotes, one machine name

What hides inside the price
01

Which axes are real

Six axes can mean Y1, Y2, X, R, Z1, Z2 on servo drives, or a count that includes manual stops. Ask each axis by letter and its drive.

02

Synchronisation

A torsion bar keeps the beam level mechanically. Electro-hydraulic servo control reads a scale on each side and corrects. A real CNC price assumes the second.

03

Crowning

Without it a long bend opens in the middle. Manual wedge, motorised wedge under CNC, or hydraulic cylinders in the bed: get the type in writing.

04

Frame mass

Ask side plate thickness, stress relief method and weight. A lighter frame at the same tonnage deflects more.

05

Guarding

Light curtain or laser guard at the tool, rear guards, safe speed changeover. Listings rarely say which, and it is the usual gap on arrival.

02

Decode the model code.

Most listings follow the Chinese convention: W67 is a press brake, Y a hydraulic machine synchronised by torsion bar, K a CNC machine with servo synchronisation. The figures are nominal tonnes and bed length in millimetres.

  • WE67K-100/3200: 100 / 3.2 = about 31 tonnes per metre when the load is spread over the whole bed. A short thick part in the centre concentrates it, so ask for the allowed force per metre.

03

Before you ask for a price.

Send these with the enquiry. Without them, any number a factory gives you is a guess dressed as a quotation.

04

Turn the claim into a demonstration.

After a warm-up, bend your part over the full bed in your thickest material; measure the angle at both ends and the centre.End to centre difference inside your tolerance, with crowning set by the control, not shimmed.
Run twenty identical bends and measure every flange.Back gauge position repeats inside your tolerance from first part to last.
Break the light curtain or laser guard during fast approach, then press the emergency stop.Beam stops before the tool reaches the hand zone and restarts only after a deliberate reset.

05

The documents that must arrive with it.

The one people forget. The conformity route. Press brakes with manual loading are on the high-risk list: Annex IV of 2006/42/EC, Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. If EN 12622 is not applied in full, a notified body must be involved; ask for its certificate.

When this is the wrong machine.

Buy something else if

Named, not hedged
01

Your parts are thin cabinet panels with many short flanges, bent all day.

A panel bender, which moves the sheet itself and needs no operator skill for the sequence.

02

You bend plate now and then, one or two angles, and a degree is fine.

An NC press brake with torsion bar, or a used European machine with service history.

07

Where the numbers come from.

We name the kind of source, how many and when, and never the factory. Listed prices are asking prices, not landed cost. Where we do not hold a fact we say so: that is a GAP, not an estimate.

08

Related machines.

Every machine we source in this area is on the Metal & CNC page. How a project runs, stage by stage, is on how it works, and what it costs is on pricing.

Straight answers

Questions buyers ask about this machine.

Chinese vs European CNC press brake: what differs?+

Controller, valves and scales can be the same brands. The difference is usually frame mass, crowning, guarding delivered, and spare parts in Europe.

What belongs on a CNC press brake inspection checklist?+

The three tests above, axis travel against the contract, and valve and pump nameplates against the invoice.

What CE documentation does a CNC press brake need?+

A Declaration of Conformity naming its standards, the technical file behind it, and a manual in your language. A CE mark on a brochure proves nothing.

Who is the EU importer of a press brake?+

If you bring it in yourself, you are: check the conformity documents exist and put your name and address on the machine or its papers.
